1. VO2 Max: The Gold Standard of Aerobic Capacity

**VO2 Max**, or maximal oxygen uptake, is the maximum volume of oxygen (in milliliters) your body can transport and utilize per kilogram of body weight per minute during intense exercise. It is widely considered the gold standard metric for cardiorespiratory fitness.

2. The Cooper 1.5-Mile Run Fitness Test

The **Cooper 1.5-mile run test** is a widely used field test to estimate VO2 Max. It was developed by Dr. Kenneth Cooper in 1968 for the U.S. military.

The estimation formula is: **VO2 Max = 3.5 + 483 / Time (mins)**, where Time is the duration taken to complete the run in decimal minutes. This test requires a maximal effort and is best suited for individuals with a baseline level of conditioning.

3. The Uth Heart Rate Ratio Method

For individuals who cannot safely perform a maximal run test, the **Uth formula** provides a submaximal estimation based on the relationship between maximum heart rate and resting heart rate:

**VO2 Max = 15.3 × (Max Heart Rate / Resting Heart Rate)**. This method is based on the principle that a lower resting heart rate relative to maximum heart rate is associated with a larger stroke volume and higher aerobic capacity.
